Stories along the Kymijoki River

Catch&Release -fishing has become a popular and common way to secure the growth of fish stocks. However, the release of large fish brings its own challenges to C&R fishing, especially during warm water.

Kymijoki is considered to be a dark fish river for the rest of the season. Indeed, many do not come to the river to fish until September, when the river water drops, the salmon darkens and the fish begins to bite the fly angrily before preparing for spawning.

The Kymi is the only genuine salmon river in Southern Finland. Its best fishing places are located in Kotka, some 130 kilometers east of Helsinki
